The reality show The Amazing Race has become a hit show in the U.S. because who wouldn't like the idea of a bunch of teams running after each other from one exotic country to another searching for clues and completing unconventional tasks, before the winning team gets a 1 million dollar prize at the end of the game? With that in mind, Markus and Kevin organized their own version of the race and some members IFGF GISI Houston got their game face on for the race on Saturday, July 30, 2005.
However, before you get too excited about the possibility of seeing pictures of members in different countries of the world or hearing juicy stories about teams sabotaging each other, there were few changes made for this race. There was no traveling around the world, there was no yellow-black striped envelopes with clues inside, and surely, there was no "I'm sorry, you have been eliminated from the race"-as for the sabotaging, well, we're big on the Golden rule, so there was none of that no matter what the changes are. But despite the changes, the race was still a great and fun adventure with 2 teams of 6 people store-hopping the Houston Galleria instead of 12 teams of 2 people country-hopping around the globe-although the winning team members would love that 1 million dollar prize unchanged, they are still satisfied at the chance to alleviate the summer heat with fresh drinks courtesy of the Jamba Juice gift card as the winning prize.
