F-Night: Fun, Fellowship, Food, Friday Night. It is not a movie title but it is the name of an IFGF GISI Houston program which is done every second and fourth Friday of the month. This time the theme of the activity was "I Care" Cooking. The participants from three care groups had to make one appetizer and one main dish from the ingredients which had been prepared by the committee. 2 lbs of ground beef, preserved salted vegetables, onions, eggs, and scallions must be used to make two kinds of dishes for the dinner everybody would have later. Surprisingly, all three care groups came up with the same idea to make egg "martabak". Since this was a fellowship, everybody did the preparation and cooking together. It was fun and hilarious. The winner of the cooking contest was the A & F care group who beat the other groups probably because they made three kinds of dishes and their egg "martabak" looked very different and unique. These young people were very creative indeed.
The fun did not stop there. Cracker eating and bubble gum blowing contests followed the cooking contest. Again, the winner was the A & F care group. Nonetheless, kudos to the ladies from the family care group who did not want to give up on the cracker eating contest. Being far away in a foreign country apparently does not cause childhood memory of the Indonesian Independence Day celebration to go away. See you in the next F-Night event.
