September 15th was a festive day at the Christanday’s household as we held a baby shower for Brother Geoffrey and Sister Mira’s first child, a baby boy to be named Samuel. The afternoon started with lunch and fellowship with each other, followed by a short Praise and Worship to give thanks to our Lord for the wonderful day and for blessing the Christandays with a new addition to their family. Several of us then gave encouragements and assurances for the parents to be for their upcoming life changing event.

And what baby shower is complete without a game or two? First, we divided the attendees into two groups and began with a game called “Pregnant and Giving Birth”, in which each member of the groups has to blow a balloon and put it under their shirt, giving an appearance of a pregnant person. Once everybody in the group was “pregnant”, the first person to blow a balloon from each team now has to pop the balloon by sitting on it, hence the “giving birth”. When the person “gives birth”, the next person follows and so on until everyone in the group has popped their balloons. The team who finishes “giving birth” the fastest wins the game. The game proved to be a source of hilarity as we watched some people struggle blowing up and popping out the balloons.

After the balloons fiasco, we played a game in which each group was lined up and had to relay a pacifier from the first person in the line to the last person through a straw that they can only put in their mouth—no hands can be used to help them. It may sound simple, but in reality it was difficult to get the pacifier from one person’s straw to another’s as we witnessed the sheer amount of numbers the pacifiers were dropped to the ground by both groups.
