There are many ways to give thanks or to appreciate what people have done in our lives. Sometimes we give them gifts, ask them out or treat them to a nice place, and many more. The same thing happened in our church last Saturday August 4, 2007. To appreciate the generosity and kindness of the new Indonesian Consul General and his staff in Houston, we invited them to have a dinner together with us at our church. The event started at 7 PM with welcoming word from Pastor Somi Pranoto followed by word of encouragement from Mr. Fahmi Pasaribu, the new Indonesian Consul General in Houston. He reminded us to always be kind to one another as we all came from the same country. He also shared his experience being a Consul General in France. Because of the generosity of Mr. Pasaribu and his staff, our church now are surrounded by fences that protect the building and the property. As a thank you gift, we gave him a picture frame with some poem entitled People's Leader written by sister Imelda Pangemanan. After that, Pastor Somi led us in prayer before we headed to the fellowship hall to enjoy Sate and Gulai Kambing, Gado-Gado, Sate ayam, Pudding, Es Blewah, and Roti Pisang. With traditional music and traditional food, the dinner was enjoyable and made us feel at home.
