Valdi and Moraine are friends that we can never forget. Even though they are leaving to go fulfill their life’s path, we are going to miss them very much. “Though it’s hard to let them go, in the Father’s hands we know that a lifetime’s not too long to live as friends.”

Last Saturday, we celebrated our bond of friendship with Moraine and Valdi. This party would mark the parting of our friends and celebrate the future that is awaiting for them. As always, the farewell party started with food. A lot of good food. The “Higher Ground” care group cooked and provided the amazingly good food. Ayam kuning, sambal goreng, and egg rolls were all the dishes that were wonderfully prepared. For dessert: carrot cake and cream puffs, or kue sus in Indonesian. While we were all eating, we all had the chance to fellowship with Moraine and Valdi. Moraine was making everyone laugh and shocked everyone with her excessively talkative nature, while Valdi was acting cool as always.

After lunch, Cecylia Sadikin led us all in a series of very fun, high energy games. The first game is the classic body part game. One person would call out a series of body parts, and everyone would have to find a partner and match the body parts that the host has called out. The person who could not find a partner, or misinterpreted the directions would then be out of the game. Almost everyone was in an awkward position at least once during the duration of the game. The second and last game was called shoe twister. Everyone had to put their pair of shoes in the groups’ pile. Afterwards, Cecylia switched out the piles amongst groups and told us to get two pairs of shoes that were different. Then, we had to find people with the matching shoe pair and interlock our legs with him/her, creating a giant circle of interlocking legs. All who participated enjoyed standing in the awkward positions in the circle, and those who were watching also enjoyed our frustrating faces and energizing spirits.
