IFGF Houston once again proved their creativity when the usual monthly slot for F-Night was themed Game Show. It was anything but ordinary game show, having been a combination of three games: Jeopardy, Race in Melody, and Guess Who?, all added with an IFGF twists to boot. What can be more exciting than that?
The heavy rain that Friday evening did not put a damper on our competitive side as people started to show up, ready to get their game on, but first and foremost, as a tradition in all IFGF Houston events—bar Sunday service—we started with eating activity, namely dinner. After the fabulous dinner and chit-chat, we gathered in the sanctuary to start the activity. We were divided into groups, which were eventually named Team Pine and Team Robin after the each group’s spoke person. Our game hosts for the night, the funky and lively Alam and Eva, explained the rules of the games, and soon enough Round I was well on its way.
In Round I of Race in Melody, each group was required to buzz when they recognize a snippet of the song played by our judge Geoffrey and eventually had to sing a line or two from the song; the songs ranged from Christian songs to secular, from English to Indonesian, and from modern to oldies. Also, the game Guess Who? made a cameo after every five songs. In Guess Who? A tiny crop of a picture of a body part, such as a nose or ear or eye, was shown on the screen as a clue and more clues were added as each second passed while the groups try to decipher whose face was on the screen. The lesser the clue when a group guessed the right person, the more points they received, and the faces used in this game were mostly the familiar faces of our own members with a couple of celebrities’ faces added for good measure. It may sound simple, but it was actually harder to guess correctly due to the small size of the clues and the years old quality of the pictures, which I’m almost convinced were kept in the IFGF Houston archive for blackmailing purposes—just kidding. :P
