The American war heroes had to fight the battle regardless the weather rain or shine. Likewise, the downpouring rain did not stop the Indonesian members of International Full Gospel Fellowship (IFGF GISI) Church of Houston, Texas from celebrating the 4th of July Independence Day by hosting an outdoor Food Bazaar.

The Bazaar started in the morning to 4 pm was put together to bring the community closer together, especially the Indonesian-immigrant community in the surrounding area. Private food vendors of local families were invited to sell their food specialties throughout the day.

The outdoor bazaar went on with many visitors despite the rain. The members of the committee were transporting the visitors from one booth to another with their umbrellas. Visitors got to enjoy the nasi gudeg, nasi rames, nasi lemak, rempeyek, otak-otak, chicken noodles, martabak, rujak juhi, tahu isi, crawfish, snow cones and many other traditional delicacies.

Inside and outside the building visitors could join the free blood pressure check up, festive activities and games for all ages with the opportunities to win prizes. The children were entertained all day with the dart balloon, drawing activities, shoot-a-hoop, tic-tac-toe throws and bean-bag/coke-can bowling.

Early in the afternoon, the water balloon pitch burst created an attraction scene. For a small sum of money, visitors had three chances to hit a target that will trigger the fully-loaded water balloon to burst. The game became very exciting as the visitors had their chances to wet the local popular figures. The cheer of joy filled the audience when the target person got wet.

Inside the sanctuary, a movie titled Facing the Giants was shown for motivational entertainment. This inspirational movie had become encouragements to a lot of people with catchy line such as “Our action follows what we believe”. It was a great movie to commemorate the Independence Day. Our war heroes fought the battles because they believed in freedom. Happy Independence Day.
